At the start of a speed dating session, students are given a topic or question to discuss. Each student sits facing another student. Students typically remain in their partner-groups for about minutes before the instructor, who must keep time, notifies them to move on to their next partner. Once students rotate to their new partners, the timer is reset and students again discuss their topic or question, this time with a new discussion partner.
The session proceeds in this manner, with each student thus getting the opportunity to interact with multiple other students in a series of brief one-on-one discussions Murphy,

Book Speed-Dating: Finding the Perfect Read
The sophomore English class was Book Speed-Dating, a method introduced last school year, during which students move from table to table scanning book covers and titles to discover books of interest to them. Educators got the idea from Kelly Gallagher, a teacher and author who focuses on helping students become better readers and writers. While classes still have two assigned novels per school year to read, the traditional book reports of yesterday are gone, Krause said.
Students read their chosen books and present book talks in front of the class. They confer one-on-one with Krause, who monitors what each student is learning from their book. As students perused books, they added titles to their to-read lists for future reference.

They spend ten minutes in pairs, offering each other specific feedback on a high-stakes writing assignment, before moving on to another partner for another round of critique. Actually two student exemplars. I want you to go back to the two articles and I want you to evaluate them based on the content and development criteria.
It has quotes. Each round lasted approximately 13 minutes and focused on one specific category of the writing rubric. I give the student pairs three to five minutes to read the work of their peers. Then they have five minutes to give critical feedback. Like some people only see grammar mistakes, some people only see spelling mistakes and there are some people who look for like the deep down things like you need more quotes or you need more information.
This is what speed dating really allows them to practice. I want them to know that professional journalists actually revise. They re-interview, the make mistakes, they ask their colleagues to take a look at their work and they go back and they do it all over again in order to make it sparkle.

Nationally, an estimated 44 percent of school districts are participating in farm to school programs.

A whole day to celebrate being a postdoc? The day at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus started with speed networking, which I thought might be like speed dating for nerds. Unlike speed dating, everyone I spoke with at the networking session was interested in me. I talked to a financial planner, a clinical psychologist promoting wellness strategies and several fellow PhDs with successful careers in academia, industry and K education.
Feeling inspired by the morning session, I was ready for keynote speaker Alaina G. Keynote speaker Alaine G. Levine, left, purveyor of lessons on self-worth and balance, stands with Rushita Bagchi of the Postdoctoral Association in front of a full house of postdocs, graduate students and other community members. While scientists and engineers are excellent problem solvers, she noted, they are less skilled in the art of marketing their value to potential employers. This innovative idea was developed by Project Bridge, a science communication and policy organization founded by a group of CU Anschutz postdocs.
The Gong Show featured presentations lasting less than three minutes with a twist: no scientific jargon allowed. Attendees were given cowbells to shake violently at the first hint of technical terminology. Somewhat disappointingly, however, there was minimal gong-ing of presenters. I think scientists are a generally a well-mannered audience; we are used to nodding politely despite having no idea what we just heard.

Great post. I like how you layout the strategic and structural ways you encouraged individual change. Is there a sample padlet with a few example posts available to view? To coordinate this sharing time, the three high school instructional technology coaches organized a “speed dating” event. In January, all high school teachers were asked to create an engagement commitment for second semester.
Commitments didn’t need to be related to technology, but many were. Staff worked on these commitments, implemented them with their students over the past four months, and shared their progress and results with department colleagues at the February and March department meetings. Some worked and met with one of the technology instructional coaches individually.
All teachers shared their commitment and the results in the form of an initial and follow up post on a Padlet wall.

Virtually, of course. A real-life meeting will happen in a fortnight or so, then love, and their lives will fold into a magical future in which parent-teacher evenings will always trump over a romantic night in but, in mitigation, long summers will be spent on sun-kissed beaches without a care in the world. That is the theory. The reality is that on Friday 31 July Kate, a teaching assistant, will take part in a speed dating event for education workers. In this era of restricted socialising, it is always a lot of old-fashioned fun, she says.
I got him the vodka the other glasses contained water and we had a good old chat — it was a great icebreaker. Edudate , as the dating service Kate uses is niftily named, is the idea of a secondary school history teacher, Tom Rogers. Currently between contracts, the pandemic has left Rogers with time on his hands and, as a year-old singleton with some tricky break-ups in his slipstream, he was aware that being an educational professional brought particular strains when it came to falling in love.
So far, more than 1, people have signed up on Edudate. The only requirement, Rogers says, is that they work in education. But we also welcome people who work in educational administration, in school support, in universities and in colleges. Women outnumber men because of the demographics of primary teaching, but we have more and more men signing up.
What happens is that I go through all the sign-ups, and organise people depending on their age, their orientation, and their regional location.
